The Sager Automatic Forecast System ----------------------------------- Files needed: FORECAST.COM SAGER.DAT WEATHER.DAT WINDDIR.DAT WINDSPD.DAT System Description: The IBM-PC Forecasting System is an automated weather forecasting package derived from the Sager Weather Forecaster handheld manual computer. Forecasts computed by the system should be fairly accurate for about a six to twelve hour period. However, as time goes on the forecasts tend to be less accurate. You may be suprised, though, how close the forecasts are to the TV news forecasts. The software was written in Turbo Pascal and should work on any IBM-PC compatible system. The source code is listed as 'FORECAST.PAS'. Input Required: 1. WIND DIRECTION: Wind direction should be two alphanumeric characters that represent one of eight wind direction vectors. N = NORTH NE = NORTHEAST E = EAST SE = SOUTHEAST S = SOUTH SW = SOUTHWEST W = WEST NW = NORTHWEST 2. BAROMETRIC PRESSURE: The barometric pressure at sea level in inches of mercury. 29.95 = Twenty-Nine point Nine Five Inches of Mercury 3. PRESSURE TENDENCY: Pressure tendency is the current tendency of the barometric pressure. R = RISING RR = RISING RAPIDLY N = NORMAL F = FALLING FR = FALLING RAPIDLY NOTE: It is normal for the pressure to rise in the morning and fall in the afternoon. This cycle is repeated during a 24 hour period. 4. SKY CONDITION: Sky condition is the condition of the atmosphere. The possible conditions are: CLEAR = CLEAR SKIES PCLOUDY = PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES MCLOUDY = MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES CLOUDY = CLOUDY SKIES PRECIP = RAIN, SLEET, SNOW, ETC.
