There is nothing more frustrating (after having spent $7000 on an IBM PC/XT and then an additional $50 on chess software) than to get home and have to fool with a floppy when there is a perfectly good fixed disk which is 10 times as fast and quieter to boot (pun intended). Therefore the following information is provided which will enable XT owners to transfer Sargon III to fixed disk: (assuming the sargon disk is in drive a, and default drive is c) copy a:sargon.III sargon3.com (original sargon3.com is NOT copied) debug n sargon3.com l a 7f9f mov ah,10 a 83e1 mov ah,2 w q Copy b000.bok from floppy to fixed disk. (b000.bok contains the book openings) None of the other files are required and should NOT be copied to fixed disk. Sargon should function normally, except that unfortunately when Sargon exits, Sargon reboots the system. (Couldn't find an easy change for that one) Note: This information is being provided to allow registered Sargon III owners to transfer a single copy of Sargon to a fixed disk. It is not intended for any other use. Michael Williams
